Save Money By Adding Air To Your Car Tires
I drive a lot. Since I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on fuel but still need something that is safe in the snow I drive a 2007 Suzuki Sx4. I started to notice the miles per gallon I was getting drop so I decided to see what was causing the problem. I tried driving slower, accelerating smoother and using cruise control but nothing was making much of a difference in boosting my MPG’s back to an acceptable level. I then decided to check the air pressure of my tires. The tires are rated for 44 psi. I went to the gas station, paid my 50 cents and used their air to fill my tires up. Each tire was in the 25-30 psi range rather then the 44 psi where they should be. They didn’t even look low on air but were in desperate need of a fill up. I got all of my tires back to the 44 psi range and my mileage has improved on average 4-5 MPG better then before. This is a lesson in efficiently using your fuel. MAKE SURE YOUR TIRES ARE FILLED TO THE RECOMMENDED CAPACITY.
JCWhitney has a great gauge to help measure your tire pressure, saving you significant money on fuel.
