Merchant Spotlight - RapidParts.com & Waterfest.com

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Admit It! You love your car. We all do. Certain Makes & Models of vehicles obtain an almost cult like status. That statement could not be more true for Volkswagen & Audi lovers. A small company called Rapid Parts saw that devotion and created a business around it.

Rapid Parts started in 1976 as a tiny store in a strip mall offering specialty Volkswagen parts. Their success was so huge that they opened a 12,500 square foot facility with a showroom, warehouse and 5 bay repair shop located just north of New York City. They expanded their offerings to Audi vehicles as well and began specializing in performance parts to help Volkswagen & Audi customers soup up their vehicles. The business has done tremendously well throughout the years and they are now finding huge success online with RapidParts.com. As soon as people from around the world could find their Volkswagen & Audi offerings and order them as simply as they could from a local shop the business went into hyper drive (no pun intended).

The foresight of Rapid Parts management staff led the company to another realization. If people love their Volkswagen & Audi vehicles so much they would probably want an event to bring them together. This event is called Waterfest. Waterfest is now in its 14th year and stronger then ever. This year they are expecting a turnout of over 25,000 attendees. Waterfest 14 will take place at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ on July 19th & 20th 2008. Some of the events will include autocross, autocross school, burn out contests, drag racing, dyno, an exhibition area, show car contest, sound off and a comprehensive swap meet.

If you are a Volkswagen or Audi enthusiast or just love cars in general, Rapid Parts and Waterfest are the sites for you.

Happy Driving!

Merchant Spotlight - GameFly.com - Video Game Rental By Mail

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Some of the best ideas are not necessarily new ideas, but rather a different take on an already existing idea. Game Fly fits this description perfectly. Although they were not the first to offer rentals by mail they took a different approach. Instead of entering the already saturated market of movie rentals by mail, GameFly offers video game rentals by mail.

If you are a gamer you can relate to the next scenario. A brand new game comes out for your video game system of choice. You rush out and pay $50+ the game. You pop it into your system and after a few hours you either decide the game isn’t for you or isn’t as great as you thought it would be. Often times if a video game is great you still don’t play it forever and instead opt to spend your time on the newest, coolest video game that is released. GameFly has the solution. Instead of BUYING video games just rent them. A major problem with the old video game rental model that companies Blockbuster & Hollywood Video introduced was that video game rentals had a short time limit just like movie rentals. With a movie you probably will only be watching the movie once and will then return it the store. Video games are a different media. With video games you may want to play the game for a few weeks before returning it. If you did this at a traditional video rental store it could cost you almost as much to rent the video game for a few weeks as it would just to buy it. GameFly took a page from NetFlix and offered unlimited video game rentals by mail for a small monthly fee.

GameFly works just like Netflix. You pay your monthly fee (plans vary and are described below) , add video games to your queue and GameFly ships you a game. You play it for as long as you want and when you don’t want to play the game anymore you send it back and they send you then next game on your list. GameFly pays postage both ways so it is an extremely efficient and cost effective service for the consumer. If you like a game you can always put it back on your queue and have it resent at a later time.

GameFly offers four different membership plans for your convenience:

2-Game Plan (our most popular plan) - Two games out at a time $22.95/month + applicable tax

1-Game Plan - One game out at a time $15.95/month + applicable tax

3-Game Plan (requires an active account in good standing for at least 60 days) - Three games out at a time $29.95/month + applicable tax

4-Game Plan (requires an active account in good standing for at least 60 days) - Four games out at a time $36.95/month + applicable tax

If you are a gamer, GameFly is an absolute no-brainer. With new video games costing $50 or more you can get brand new games to play for just about any system starting at $15.95/month. You can get all new releases shipped right to your door. Stop buying games and start renting them.

Video Game Systems Supported: Sony Playstation 3, Sony Playstation 2, Sony PSP, Microsoft XBOX 360, Microsoft XBOX, Nintendo WII, Nintendo Game Cube, Nintendo DS, Nintendoo Gameboy Advance.

What NetFlix Is And Why You Should Try It!

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Some years ago an underdog company called NetFlix revolutionized the video rental industry. They based a video rental service based on the following fundamental points:

1) People Like To Rent Movies
2) People Don’t Like Late Fees
3) People Would Appreciate An Unlimited Movie Rental Solution

They were right. The way their service works is you sign up for a membership (Their are various account levels which I will get into later). You then get to login to the NetFlix website and view their enormous collection of movies. Each movie has a complete description as well as the artwork of the case to give you that real browsing the video store experience. You then add the movies you want to see to your queue and order them in the priority you want to see them. Thats the extent of what you do and then Netflix takes care of the rest.

Based on the order of your queue Netflix starts delivering the movies you want to see STRAIGHT TO YOUR DOOR. They use first class postage so the typical delivery time is 1 day. You watch the movie, stick it back in the postage paid envelopes that they supply you with and stick it in your mailbox. NetFlix then gets the movie back takes it off your queue and sends you the next movie. The whole process of returning a movie and getting another takes about 2 days on average which is extremely fast. The best part is that Net Flix pays both the original and return shipping charges for you.

NetFlix so revolutionized the industry that Blockbuster (the worlds largest video rental company) had to compete and started offering their own online video rental service. It ran well for a while but Blockbuster could not compete due to NetFlix’s low pricing and superior management and have since raised their prices, fired most of their staff and are essentially desolving their online rental division. It still exists but their service is suffering and they are losing tons of subscribers.

To further put the nail in Blockbusters coffin Netflix introduced a feature late 2007 called “Watch Instantly.” In addition to putting movies in your queue and having them sent to you, you could login to NetFlix.com and watch a pretty large selection of movies right there on your computer instantly. They do not have their entire selection of movies available to “watch instantly” but do have a rather large selection of hit TV shows, movies, children’s programming and much more. In 2008 Netflix is working on a set top box that will allow you to watch movies from their “watch instantly library” right in your living room at the touch of a button (similar to how TIVO works).

As of 1/31/2008 NetFlix pricing is as follows:

1 at-a-time (2 a month) - $4.99 a month
1 at-a-time (Unlimited) - $8.99 a month (BargainBomb Suggested Plan)
2 at-a-time (Unlimited) - $13.99 a month
(BargainBomb Suggested Plan)
3 at-a-time (Unlimited) - $16.99 a month
4 at-a-time (Unlimited) - $23.99 a month
5 at-a-time (Unlimited) - $29.99 a month
6 at-a-time (Unlimited) - $35.99 a month
7 at-a-time (Unlimited) - $41.99 a month
8 at-a-time (Unlimited) - $47.99 a month

All you really need is to have 1 or 2 movies sent to you at at time and at a cost of only $8.99 to $13.99 per month how can you beat it. Some people even cancel their expensive $100+/month cable plans and just watch NetFlix movies. Here in New York a video rental at a major chain costs between $4 & $5 per rental. If you rent just 2 movies per month NetFlix is a much better deal considering you can get unlimited movies for as little as $8.99 per month.

In conclusion, give NetFlix a try. Using the below banner you can try NetFlix COMPLETELY FREE for 30 days courtesy of your friends at BargainBomb.com.
